Why Is My Heat Furnace Blowing Cold Air?

Its that time of year again for Murfreesboro families staying indoors and ramping up the heat. However,  sometimes just a small oversight or minor issue can cause major frustration with your furnace not providing the warm air necessary to keep your family warm. Here are a couple tips and tricks to help keep you and your family warm this winter. If you would like a full inspection of your HVAC system, Airstream provides semi-annual inspections for just $99 annually.

Check your thermostat: Make sure your that it is set to “auto” rather than “on”. When your fan is set to “on”, the fan will continually blow even though the furnace isn’t actually heating.

Ignition or pilot problem: If cold air is coming from your furnace  there could be a problem with the ignition system. Simply put, the furnace isn’t lighting the fuel which in return will not heat your home.

Inadequate gas supply: Your gas supply could be turned off or the line supplying your furnace isn’t supply an adequate amount of gas. In these cases, furnaces have a safety feature to lock down the furnace.

Major ducting problems:A large leak or hole can replicate a furnace not heating properly. Cold air from a crawlspace or attic can drastically change the temperature of the supplied air.

Call Airstream Services today for help keeping your HVAC system running to its fullest potential.
